It was one long table at Spicers Hidden Vale for this very special birthday celebration.
Stretching out under a majestic tree above the market garden was one long table that would be home for the afternoon. What beckoned was a long lunch to remember.
Family and friends arrived to congratulate Karen, join in the celebrations, enjoy fabulous food and wine and the relaxed luxury service that Spicers Retreats properties do so well.
Homage Restaurant at Spicers Hidden Vale feature local produce on the menu and chef Ash Martin and his team delivered. On the menu was slow roasted lamb shoulder rubbed with thyme and garlic from the market garden, rare breed pig from their very own Homage piglets, salt roasted potatoes cooked in coals on the fire, whole local vegetables, some smoked, local salad greens and fresh baked breads. Accompaniments were thyme jus, red wine jus, mustard soubise, apples, house made pickles and relishes. Apple crumble was the perfect dessert.
Throughout the afternoon, old friends caught up, new friends were made, everyone felt special being there to celebrate Karen.
As the sun disappeared, some gathered around the campfire in the cool of the evening. Toasting marshmallows on an open fire can never be underrated.
